I’m a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist who offers a safe and non-judgemental space for your healing journey. My approach is focused on ensuring each individual is receiving the most appropriate and personalized care to meet their unique needs. I utilize various modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) in addition to EMDR psychotherapy to enhance personal wellbeing, resiliency and healing.
EMDR has over 40 years of research to support its efficacy. When we experience an event that is disturbing, we are frequently unable to process it fully when it occurs. As a result, we can be triggered by similar situations in the present that resemble these past experiences, causing us to develop symptoms. We all have an innate ability to process traumatic or distressing events. If too much information comes in at one time, it’s like a circuit breaker goes off and things get “stuck” as stress stored in our mind and body. EMDR can help jumpstart the information that got stuck so that it’s no longer living in the present causing symptoms. EMDR utilizes evidence-based techniques to assist you in processing and adaptively storing this information into long term memory for learning, growth and healing.
I work collaboratively with both adolescents and adults. My areas of expertise encompass a broad spectrum of mental health concerns: anxiety disorders, depression, stress-related challenges, personal growth and self-development, anger-related difficulties, sleep disturbances, bereavement and loss, interpersonal relationship challenges, workplace and academic stressors, self-worth concerns, trauma recovery, mindfulness practices, guided imagery techniques, and spirituality-based concerns.
My professional background includes clinical experiences across numerous healthcare settings: Greenbelt Family Health Team, Bruyere Academic Family Health Team, Scarborough Academic Family Health Team, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Hospital, Family Services Windsor Essex County, T.A. Patterson Addiction Services, and North York Addiction Services.
My educational background includes a Master of Social Work degree from Laurentian University and a Master of Counselling degree from the University of Ottawa. My undergraduate education includes an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario.
I enjoy continuously pursuing ongoing education through training programs and workshops focused on evidence-based therapeutic practices. This dedication serves both my professional obligation to maintain my Social Work designation and my personal passion for continuous learning and development.
