Dr. Molisa Meier, C. Psych.
Dr. Molisa Meier provides individual therapy to adults, youth, and older children experiencing a wide variety of concerns, such as anxiety (e.g., obsessive-compulsive disorder, social anxiety), mood problems (e.g., depression, bipolar), relationship/interpersonal problems, difficulties adjusting to life transitions, perfectionism, and insomnia. She takes an integrative approach to meet the specific needs of her clients, which may involve elements of cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), schema therapy, mindfulness, humanistic therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. She aims to build a safe and warm therapeutic environment and to collaboratively develop a treatment plan with each client.
In addition, Dr. Meier provides psychoeducational assessments for children and adolescents to evaluate for learning disabilities, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), intellectual disability and gifted status.
Dr. Meier received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Ottawa in 2015. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Centre for Psychological Services and Research (CPSR) in Ottawa. Over the course of her training, Dr. Meier gained experience providing psychological services to adults, youth, and children in a variety of clinical settings, including the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre (Forensics, Youth Psychiatry), the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, the Ottawa Institute of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (OICBT), and the Ottawa Mindfulness Clinic. Dr. Meier is involved in research focusing on the parent-child relationship (attachment), and has published and presented her research in peer-reviewed journals and at international conferences. She regularly attends professional workshops and seminars to remain current with her profession.
